Growing up in Galatia, Kansas -Carl Karst

Above is a childhood picture of my dad, Carl Frederick Karst.

Born near Galatia, Kansas, Carl was the youngest of five children. His father was Benjamin Karst, who lived from 1888 to 1983. His mother was Magdalena “Lena” Dietz Karst, born in 1895 and lived until 1991.

German was the language in the home in the early years, with English learned after the kids went to school.

Siblings included Florence Ruth Karst Wilhelm Veach, 1916-2012, Viola Lucille Karst Dumler, 1919-2016, Arthur Augustine Art Karst, 1921-2020 and Leon Benjamin Karst, 1927-2022.
