Carl's letter to Ruth from Vietnam - Jan. 27, 1968
I want you to be assured that I trust my care to His hands and I want you to do the same
This is a letter written by Dad to Mom on Jan. 27, 1968. At the start of his Vietnam assignment, housekeeping items were addressed. A lovely part of the letter is this…
I must say Ruth, that although I am concerned for your welfare and well-being, I really appreciate the fact that you live in Russell. It means a lot just to know that you are near someone that can help you in almost any circumstance. Although you may have some apprehensions about my well being I want you to be assured that I trust my care to His hands and I want you to do the same.
If something should happen to either of us I believe that our faith would be sufficient to sustain us. The odds of something happening to me here are probably no greater than they were driving the California freeways, so I fully expect to be back on January the 11th.
It is tremendous to know that both of my parents had faith that ultimately sustained them, despite the loss of love, life, and plans for the future.
